Final chance to suggest development sites to support employment growth

People still have an opportunity to recommend sites within Bradford district which can be used for employment purposes.

As part of its Core Strategy Partial Review, Bradford Council is undertaking a “Call for Sites” exercise for employment related development.

It aims to identify potential parcels of land that can be technically assessed for their suitability, availability and viability for employment development to meet the needs identified for the district.

Sites can be submitted across the district, but Bradford Council is specifically interested in suitable sites within four locations identified in: North/North East Bradford; South East Bradford;  East and North East of Keighley and Ilkley and the wider Wharfedale corridor.

The council’s Core Strategy Preferred Options has identified the need for at least 60 hectares of land suitable for “Business use”, to help achieve greater economic growth over the next 17 years.

A spokesman for the council explained: “Any sites submitted will form part of the evidence base the council is using to draw up its new Local Plan.

“It is important to note that submitted sites will not necessarily be allocated in the Allocations DPD or that, if allocated, the boundaries will remain the same. The council may also allocate land not submitted through the ‘Call for Sites’ process.

“The decision on land allocations will be influenced by continuing work on the Local Plan evidence base.

“Please note that until such time as any site is formally allocated, any submissions will have no weight as a material planning consideration in the determination of planning applications.”

People can suggest possible employment sites by filling out and sending in a form until no later than 5pm on Tuesday 24 September 2019. Submissions cannot be accepted without a site plan.
