My Yorkshire: Rachael Flintoft, of Banner Jones Solicitors

Rachael Flintoft is a Sheffield-based solicitor in the Business Legal Services team at Banner Jones Solicitors.

Where do you live/where are you from?

I’m from Sheffield originally and I live in Deepcar in North Sheffield.

What is your favourite place to visit in Yorkshire and why?

My favourite place to visit is Cannon Hall in Barnsley with the kids as there is so much to do there.

What is still on your “to do” list in the region?

I would like to visit the Traditional German Christmas Market in Leeds.

What is the most memorable meal you’ve ever had in Yorkshire?

Eating fish and chips on the coast in Scarborough.

What is your most Yorkshire trait?

My accent, I often need to repeat myself on the phone to those not from Yorkshire.

Favourite piece of trivia about the region.

I love the fact the first ever goal scored in the Premier League was scored by Sheffield United’s Brian Deane. It’s just a shame that I’m a Sheffield Wednesday fan!

What is your favourite cultural icon to come out of Yorkshire?

Jarvis Cocker. I was a big fan of the Brit-pop movement in the 90’s and Pulp were among the best.

Worst experience or thing about Yorkshire?

Probably rush hour traffic!

What is one thing you’d steal from Lancashire (or other UK regions) if you could?

I absolutely love the theatre scene in Sheffield as we have such a great offering. I am however sometimes still a bit jealous of the West End in London.

What is the most overrated thing about Yorkshire?

The Yorkshire pudding. It’s nice bit it’s not that nice.
