Temporary closure to allow for road improvements

East Riding of Yorkshire Council will carry out further improvement works on the A614 / A1041 at Gyme Corner roundabout near East Cowick.

The work is scheduled to start on Monday, 30 September and will consist of upgrading the safety fencing.

In the first phase of the works, the existing vegetation around the old fence will be removed. This will last for five days, between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday and will be controlled by three-way traffic signals.

After the vegetation has been removed, the old fence itself will be removed and replaced from Wednesday, 2 October for ten nights, between the hours of 10pm and 6am Monday to Friday.

During the replacement of the fence, the A1041 Snaith Road will be closed overnight between the junction with the A614 and ‘Peppered Pig’ restaurant. Traffic will be diverted via Snaith, Camblesforth and Rawcliffe. A diversion for HGVs will also be signed via Eggborough and Brayton.

The A614 will remain open, controlled by temporary traffic signals and a convoy system.

An East Riding of Yorkshire Council spokesperson said: “We apologise in advance for the inconvenience caused by these essential safety improvements, but we have scheduled the majority of work overnight to reduce disruption to an absolute minimum.”
