Fast growing renewable energy firm moves HQ to city centre building

One of the UK’s fastest growing renewable energy firms, Planet U-Energy, has established its headquarters at the Minerva office building in Leeds City Centre as it enters a record-breaking year for the business.

The pioneering energy provider’s move into the final remaining 1,555 sq ft suite located on the 4th floor of Minerva will create 20 new roles, including 10 opportunities on the company’s Graduate Scheme, in partnership with Leeds-based recruitment agency Hortor.

The deal, which was agreed by CBRE’s Leeds office agency team on behalf of landlord BMO, signals the full occupation of the East Parade office building.

Leeds-based Planet U-Energy is the fastest growing renewable energy brokerage in the country and is focused on changing the climate for the better for its household-name clients who include Yorkshire Building Society and Wembley Stadium.

Planet-U Energy & The Wider group of companies, owned by entrepreneur Grant Nicholson, is adding to its presence in Leeds City Centre where it already rents commercial space totalling 8,000 sq ft with additional offices in Liverpool, Manchester and London.

Grant Nicholson, CEO of Planet-U Energy, added: “The expansion of space in Leeds is reflective of Planet-U Energy’s continued growth, having doubled in size and turnover year on year, with a 4th year set to be a record breaker and we hope to bring onboard a team that continues this upward trend. Minerva was chosen for its central location and the amenities that surround the office, but also because of the building’s low carbon footprint, something we believe is essential in creating a better tomorrow.”

The Minerva building has been transformed in recent years following an initial £5m investment to deliver 30,568 sq ft of office accommodation in the business district of Leeds. Existing occupiers within the Grade A building include; Stowe Family Law, Cromwell Property Group, Sentio Partners, Proact IT and FRP Advisory.

Alex Hailey, Director of Office Agency at CBRE Leeds, said: “We are delighted to confirm a final letting at Minerva to Planet-U Energy.  Following its transformation, the building appeals to companies not only seeking office space in a prime location, but also to those who wish to reduce their carbon footprint.  This combined with its key commuter links and access to a premium retail, bar and restaurant scene has ensured the property’s continuous letting success.”

CBRE and JLL are joint office agents on Minerva.
