Financial services and retail business Ramsdens has taken on a 10-year lease for 19 Market Place, in Harrogate, following an extensive refurbishment.

The company was secured for this 594 sq ft unit by commercial property consultant Ryden, acting on behalf of landlord Kingston Unity Friendly Society.

The renovation was carried out by Ryden Project and Building Consultancy in Leeds, with Dan Smith acting as Principal Designer and Contract Administrator for the enabling works to facilitate new occupancy.

The work included slate roof repairs, sliding sash window repairs and a full strip out of the previous tenant’s fit out, plus an overhaul and decorations to the shop front.

As the premises form part of the Harrogate Central Conservation Area, Ryden said it liaised with the conservation officer to ensure all works complied with heritage requirements, particularly the shop front aspect.

Dan Hodge, Associate and letting agent at Ryden, said: “We’re delighted to have represented the landlord in this transaction. It was a fantastic result, given the perceived woes of the high street, that we have let the unit to such a great covenant as Ramsdens.”

Richard Barker, of Barker Proudlove, represented the tenant.
