Builders’ merchant continues growth by opening its latest branch
Independent builder’s merchant MKM Building Supplies has opened the doors of a brand new branch in Leeds, creating 18 jobs.
The outlet in Whitehall Road is housed in a 20,000 sq foot warehouse. It is designed to be a one-stop shop for the local building trade, offering a wealth of expertise and an extensive range of products.
Both trade and retail customers will have access to a variety of building essentials, including facing bricks and blocks, plasterboard and insulation. There are also structural timber and joinery, specialist electrical, plumbing and heating products.
Services offered at the branch include a timber machining and cutting facility, free local deliveries, a brick matching service, as well as free measure and 3D design services and kitchen and bathroom showrooms.
The outlet is part of MKM’s ambitious expansion plan, which has gained momentum over the past few years. The business has added 15 new branches to its network in just over two years, making Leeds the 67th branch with three more planned this year.
MKM Leeds is led by experienced industry duo Peter Mawson and Dean Schofield.
Mawson is Chairman of the Builder’s Merchant Federation for Yorkshire. He explained he has a strong belief that customer experience is always the number one priority in any successful business.
He added: “Our aim is to provide customer service that is second to none and to put MKM firmly on the map as the merchant of choice in Leeds.
“We are keen to talk to both local trade and retail customers to assist them with the best solutions for their construction projects, installations and home improvements.”
With over 35 years experience, Schofield started his career as a plumbing and heating apprentice in Barnsley, and has since held numerous positions from Yardman to Managing Director.
