People: Litigation and dispute solicitor taken on; Industry appointment for print specialist; New energy division head confirmed; and more

Growing Sheffield legal firm Bhayani Law has expanded its services further with the addition of litigation and dispute solicitor, Sarah Coates-Madden.

Setting up Bhayani Law five years ago, Jay Bhayani’s aim was to develop a practice offering first class, practical HR and legal advice to businesses and individuals. Coates-Madden adds a new skill to the firm, bringing with her over 14 years’ experience advising on a variety of litigation matters across East and South Yorkshire.

Her past experience includes helping small businesses, charities and PLCs with commercial disputes.

These include disputed invoices and debt recovery, breach of contract, negligence claims, company and shareholder/director disputes, and employer restrictive covenant advice, as well as commercial property litigation, such as dilapidations issues, forfeiture, breach of lease covenants and lease renewal court proceedings.

Coates-Madden understands that most businesses prefer to find cost-effective and practical solutions to their issues that don’t involve court proceedings.

She can help explore alternative dispute resolutions, but she is experienced in dealing with court and tribunal proceedings.

She also helps individuals with issues such as residential property disputes, including possession claims/problem tenants, right of way and boundary issues, nuisance claims and adverse possession.

Coates-Madden can draw on years of experience dealing with a wide range of matters at the Citizens’ Advice Bureau, prior to becoming a solicitor, as well as sitting on the board as a trustee of a housing association.

Jay Bhayani, managing director of Bhayani Law, said: “Sarah is an excellent addition to our team, further expanding the service we offer. I am confident that her skill and experience will be of great value to our existing and new clients.”

Tony Moscrop, managing director at Dufaylite Developments, outgoing president at FESPA UK Association said: “Sustainability is undoubtedly high on the agenda. Swanline Print and RMC are industry leading companies on this important issue so I am sure their planned combined efforts and initiatives will provide significant benefits for association members, their customers and the environment.

The move follows a recent merger with Huddersfield-based FM Energy, to bolster the firm’s energy management division as part of its UK-wide expansion plans.

Widdowson will be charged with developing the existing energy management team, effectively doubling its size in the next 12 months.

As well as energy, Core manages waste, IT and estates on behalf of its clients, providing a full facilities management service to drive operational efficiency and sustainability.

Core managing director Colette Watts said: “Dru will be responsible for appointing and on-boarding four people into the new business team imminently, with further additional roles planned during 2020.

“We are delighted that our clients will benefit from Dru’s energy market knowledge and his considerable experience in helping local businesses secure significant cost and efficiency savings.”

Widdowson said: “Core already has a strong energy team with a huge amount of in-house expertise and the ambition to take its successful formula to a wider audience.

“I will be making sure we recruit the right people to achieve those goals and that as many organisations as possible benefit from reduced overheads and improved sustainability.”
