£3m project to support entrepreneurs across region

A £3m partnership project led by Sheffield Hallam University is set to support entrepreneurs from across the region to grow their business.

ScaleUp 360 is a three-year European funded project that brings together business experts from  Doncaster and East Midlands Chambers of Commerce and Barnsley Business and Innovation Centre (BBIC) under the leadership of Sheffield Hallam University.

The group will deliver a tailored high growth support programme to businesses and entrepreneurs, from pre/early start-up to investment ready, with the ambition to grow their business.

Each client will have a dedicated account manager whose role it will be to ensure they have access to the scale-up  expertise, knowledge and connections they need to grow a sustainable and investment ready business.

This will include one-to-one specialist business advice, mentor support, workshops and access to investment opportunities.

In addition, the recently opened Hallam i-Lab offers clients access to a dedicated entrepreneur and business incubation space at the heart of Sheffield City Centre.

Conor Moss, group director for Business Engagement, Skills and Employability at Sheffield Hallam, said: “ScaleUp 360 is an ambitious Sheffield City Region wide accelerator programme designed to provide the inspirational advice and support that businesses and entrepreneurs need in order to achieve sustainable high growth.

“Sheffield Hallam’s support for entrepreneurs and regional businesses through innovation and enterprise is just one of the ways the university is driving future economies in the region and beyond.”

ScaleUp 360 will also include an outreach and engagement programme of enterprise and entrepreneurship skills development activities delivered to a selected number of further education colleges across the region.

The programme aims to foster students’ aspirations for an enterprising career and showcase the range of support that is available across the Sheffield City Region for young people wanting to start their own venture.

Caroline Nouvellon, student and graduate enterprise manager at Sheffield Hallam, said: “I’m delighted to be leading this innovative new project which will support the ambitions of entrepreneurs across the region.

“We have a breadth of knowledge and expertise at Sheffield Hallam University that businesses can access to help their ventures to grow and flourish, benefiting them and the economy at the same time.”

The programme was officially launched with a two-day event at the university, including a series of workshops from industry leaders, one-to-one business advice and networking on 10 and 11 October.

Businesses with ambitions to grow are encouraged to sign up.
