Family firm on the ball with duo of Football Association contracts

A Yorkshire HR, employment law and health and safety firm has expanded its presence in the professional sports sector after being appointed to deliver employment law support to two county football associations.

Howarths, based in Cleckheaton, has been appointed by Manchester Football Association and Sheffield and Hallamshire County Football Association.

The appointments add to the firm’s growing sports portfolio, which also includes the official charity of Leeds United Football Club, The Leeds United Foundation.

Gavin Howarth, managing director at Howarths, explained: “We’re delighted to have been chosen to provide employment law support to these two county football associations, adding further sports clients to our roster following our culture change project and ongoing employment law support for The Leeds United Foundation.

“Our advisory team will provide advice on HR and employment law queries and guidance around the National Citizen Service programme among other areas, while ensuring both FAs remain up to date with changing legislation so they can adapt quickly in an ever-evolving industry.”

Colin Bridgford, chief executive officer at Manchester Football Association, said: “Manchester FA is delighted to be able to team up with Howarths as an HR partner.

“One of our most important assets is our people and it was important we found a partner that would match our needs, providing our team at Manchester FA that personal and dedicated service and, most importantly, expert, professional advice.”

Howarths was founded in 2003 by Andy and Helen Howarth. Today, the company provides HR, employment law and health and safety support to more than 500 organisations across Yorkshire and the UK, including Moda in Pelle, Express Bi-Folding Doors and The Leeds United Foundation.
