E-learning company doubles turnover and targets further growth

A Yorkshire e-learning solutions company has doubled its turnover after increasing its marketing activities and taking on a series of new clients.

Topping £1m for the first time since its founding in 1999, Batley-based Day One Technologies grew its turnover from £550,000 to £1.2m in the 2018/19 financial year. The company is hoping to increase its turnover in 2019 by a further 10%.

The firm’s services include creating business system simulations, Learning Management System development, scenario-based training content and blended learning solutions.

Attributing much of the company’s success to investing in new marketing activities, including showcasing previous projects, e-learning solutions director Elaine Teal said: “For over 20 years we’ve been creating innovative e-learning, system simulations and blended learning projects that engage staff and improve business performance, but we’ve never really promoted these outside of our existing circle of clients.

“After deciding to up our marketing efforts, we noticed a huge increase in enquiries, which led to four major new clients commissioning us to develop bespoke e-learning solutions.”

The company has previously supported businesses such as The Co-operative Bank, GHD and TSB, as well as Government and third sector organisations, with training consultancy and implementation.

During its most successful year to date, the company was appointed to develop technical e-learning projects for two Government bodies in the Middle East to help with infrastructure and leadership development.

In addition, together with mental health charity Mind, it successfully created an interactive, online course aimed at sports coaches, for leading sports coach provider 1st4Sport.

And the Scottish Government, working on behalf of NHS Scotland, commissioned e-learning from Day One to form part of its Health and Social Care certification programme – ‘Whole System Patient Flow Improvement’.

Teal added: “We’ve recently invested further in our staff, which means there will be some new business developments in the coming months.

“Over the next year, we plan to focus specifically on the Healthcare market where we have a strong background, as well as continuing with our support for local businesses in order to help build the training and development of the Yorkshire workforce.”
