Funding support creates 25 more jobs in town centre

Domino’s has launched an outlet in Skipton with the backing of a six-figure funding package from HSBC UK.

The pizza takeaway and delivery firm opened its two-floor 1,200 sq ft takeaway store in Skipton town centre after buying an existing business – a former delicatessen – then refitting the unit.

The new outlet will create 25 full and part time jobs and is part of Domino’s strategy to grow its offering to customers in smaller towns across the UK.

Domino’s Yorkshire, the franchisee Group that owns Domino’s Skipton and several other outlets across the region, expects to see its turnover increase by 15% in the next 12 months as a result of the expansion.

James Salt, managing director of Domino’s Yorkshire, said: “With HSBC UK’s support we’ve been able to buy an existing business and refit and modernise the unit.

“Our new store not only gives customers in Skipton and its surrounding area access to Domino’s famous freshly handcrafted pizzas, but it has also created a host of new local jobs.”

Ash Khan, business banking senior relationship manager, HSBC UK North & West Yorkshire, added: “We’re delighted to be supporting Domino’s Yorkshire with the opening of their eighth outlet in Yorkshire.

“We look forward to seeing James and his team create new jobs, successfully expand their income and continue to open more sites in Yorkshire’s towns.’’

The Domino’s Yorkshire franchisee group now has three outlets in Bradford, two in Leeds, two in Wakefield and one in Skipton. Last year, it had an annual turnover of £10m.

The latest deal was part of HSBC UK’s £1.05bn lending fund to support small and medium-sized enterprises in Yorkshire.
