First phase completed at conversion of historic mills

Work has finished on the £6.5m first phase of a residential development that has seen a derelict mill complex in Morley transformed into 49 rental apartments.

There is now just one home still available to rent at the development, which is being marketed by estate agent Dacre, Son & Hartley, with 48 apartments already reserved.

Tingley Mills, which was built in the 1880s, has been redeveloped by Manchester-based MMR Group.

The firm has a strong track record for converting derelict and historic buildings – with a focus on redundant mills and large office buildings – into homes for the rentals market and has scooped prestigious awards from Homes England and Local Authority Building Control in recent years.

Following the conversion of Tingley Mills’ two main three-storey Victorian buildings, the £5m second phase of the scheme will start later this year and will see a collection of 22, three and four-bedroom, family homes built within the site.

These will be released for sale early next year with Dacre, Son & Hartley.

The rental apartments include a mix of one-and two-bedroom homes, as well as a selection of exceptional top floor apartments with high ceilings and exposed beams.

Also featured in the development is lift access to the upper floors, a secure parking area with electric vehicle charging points and number plate recognition technology, cycle storage facilities, CCTV and a 24-hour concierge service in the site’s original gatehouse.

The apartments are ready to move into and the last remaining two-bedroom, two-bathroom home is priced at £925 per calendar month.
