Weekender: Fine food and drink specialist launches tea-infused gin

Yorkshire-based speciality food and beverage provider Cartwright & Butler has launched the UK’s first tea-infused gin product.

The brand’s “Darjeeling Infused Parlour Gin” has been created as the perfect accompaniment to the traditional afternoon tea, made with the company’s own Darjeeling Tea and Acacia Honey.

The business worked with Yorkshire distillery, Divine Gin, to bring the product to fruition – using cutting edge technology to create the finest fusion of botanicals with spring water sourced from Shepley.

The gin blends eleven botanicals including juniper, coriander, angelica, cassia, oris root, and lemon peel – and comes in a tin ideal for gifting purposes.

The national surge in demand for new gin flavours helped to inspire the product

In addition to listings in prestigious outlets like Harrods, Selfridges, Liberty of London and Harvey Nichols, Cartwright & Butler currently exports to 43 countries worldwide, including to luxury overseas retailers like David Jones of Sydney and Farmers of New Zealand.

Since 2012, its employee count has increased from 4 to 35.

Nigel Arnett, national sales director at the firm, said: “Our customers remain loyal to us because of the guarantee of unbeatable, delicious, high quality products – and the Darjeeling Infused Parlous Gin will certainly not disappoint.

“Our company’s continuous growth and success comes purely from our passion to make everyday moments special and add a touch of luxury to every occasion. We’re incredibly excited about the new launch, and expect the gin to be a huge hit with spirit lovers on the run up to Christmas.”

Raymond Woolhead, managing director at Divine Gin, says, “This has been a fantastic project to work on. The team at Cartwright & Butler put luxury at the heart of all their products and it was our brief to create a gin that did just that.

“Parlour Gin wouldn’t have been placed in the range if it wasn’t the highest quality gin. This really is a sparkling example of two Yorkshire companies collaborating together.”
