Tony Cole, of Airedale International

Leeds-based cooling specialists Airedale International have signed an agreement with CyrusOne, the global real estate investment trust specialising in data centre properties.

The contract will see Airedale supply cooling solutions for upcoming data centre projects in Europe – including locations in Amsterdam and Dublin.

Sites covered by the agreement include CyrusOne’s Dublin facility, based within Grange Castle Business Park South and comprising 33,445 sq m with an IT load of 54 MW across three separate buildings.

Airedale will also supply cooling technology to the Amsterdam facility within PolanenPark, comprising 29,350 sq m with an IT load of 54 MW across two buildings.

Airedale says it expects to announce further European projects with CyrusOne over the next 18 months.

Its products will consist of specifically engineered SmartCool™ chilled water PAC systems and OptiChill™ free cooling chillers. This process is designed to avoid significant water costs whilst still delivering Power usage effectiveness. (PUE)

Tesh Durvasula, president, Europe at CyrusOne, said: “Airedale is known for providing intelligently designed solutions that deliver best-in-class cooling efficiencies and we are looking forward to implementing this expertise into our developments.

“As a company, we have ambitious expansion plans in Europe and see Airedale as a trusted partner to help us deliver low PUEs and high availability.”

Airedale already has extensive experience of supplying precision cooling solutions to the data centre industry, from providing solutions for single server rooms to much larger facilities.

The equipment destined for CyrusOne will be manufactured at Airedale’s production facility in Leeds, supported by a skilled European-wide network of support engineers.

Tony Cole, managing director at Airedale, said: “We’re proud to announce this significant contract award as not only does it cement Airedale’s reputation for supplying precision air conditioning equipment into high-tech industries, but it also showcases British manufacturing at its best in a tough economic climate.

“We are investing in our production facilities as a result of these projects, and there is a real buzz around the place as we look forward to producing the units and delivering a fantastic solution for the client.”
