Childcare business extends its portfolio by acquiring another nursery

The Just Childcare group – which operates nurseries in the North West, Yorkshire and South West – has announced its acquisition of Safehands Day Nursery, in Harrogate.

The addition of Safehands, which was established in 2004 and is set in an Edwardian era building within the Duchy area of the town, sees the group extend its portfolio to 60 settings.

It follows the acquisition of 11 other nurseries since the start of 2019. These include Funcare Group, also in Harrogate, (three settings) and Small World Day Nursery and St Mary’s Day Nursery, in Doncaster (two settings).

An Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ setting with a capacity of 70 child places, Safehands Day Nursery further strengthens Just Childcare’s presence in this location, becoming its fifth nursery in the Harrogate area.

Just Childcare now provides nearly 4,500 child places across its group of nurseries.

David Johnson, CEO at Just Childcare, said: “2019 has been an exciting year for the group and we are absolutely delighted to welcome Safehands Day Nursery as the 60th nursery to join the Just Childcare group.  The nursery has an excellent reputation in the area and is in a great location that compliments the other four settings we have in Harrogate.

“Over the past 12 months we’ve added significantly to the group and we are hoping to maintain growth throughout 2020 and beyond.

“We can’t wait to get to know the team at Safehands Day Nursery and work with them to further enhance the success of their setting.”
