Trial begins into fatal accident at engineering company

A trial is due to begin today into a fatal accident at a subsidiary of a Sheffield-based specialist engineering group.

Pressure Technologies has released an update on the prosecution by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) following the death at its subsidiary – Chesterfield Special Cylinders – in June 2015.

The trial starts today at Sheffield Crown Court.

The Group previously submitted a plea of not guilty on 6 March 2019 to a charge brought by the HSE based on the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.

And the company has said it will be issuing a further update following the conclusion of the trial and the verdict being delivered.

Pressure Technologies Group designs and manufactures safety-critical components and systems serving global supply chains in oil and gas, defence, industrial gases and hydrogen energy markets.

The Group has two divisions, Precision Machined Components and Chesterfield Special Cylinders.
