Preferred accommodation provider appointed for 1,026-bed student complex

Real estate investment adviser, 90 North, has appointed Homes for Students, the national student accommodation manager, to work as the University of Bradford’s preferred accommodation provider for The Green, Bradford.

Homes for Students will use its own established sales and marketing platform and directly delivered facilities management service, which already operates across more than 21,000 beds throughout the UK.

The Green is a 1,026-bed, purpose-built development, close to the city centre. It is one of the most sustainable student accommodation projects of its kind, being one of the first ever developments to achieve BREEAM Outstanding certification when it was built in 2011.

Its accommodation comprises two distinct types – ‘The Green Village’, which has apartments with clusters of six en-suite bedrooms, shared kitchen/dining area and living space and ‘Townhouses at the Green’, which provide students with townhouse-style living, each with 12 bedrooms and sharing a large open plan living space, kitchen/dining area, outdoor patio and garden.

At the heart of The Green is a central hub – the Orchard, a biodiversity pond and student garden, with a designated ‘grown your own food’ area. The Green Village uses solar power for heating and rainwater for everyday use and provides recycling and composting facilities.

The scheme also benefits from 24/7 on site management and security, high speed internet and external BBQ facilities, as well as being next to the university campus.
