Finance director appointed at listed security technology firm

Surveillance technology business Synectics has appointed David Bedford as finance director with effect from 6 January 2020.

Bedford will lead the company’s finance and administration functions from its registered Office in Sheffield, which recently relocated from Studley, Warwickshire. A period of overlap will allow for a handover of responsibilities with the current Warwickshire-based team, led by acting finance director Amanda Larnder, remaining in place until April 2020.

Bedford holds a degree in Economics & Accounting from the University of Bristol and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. He brings extensive UK and international finance leadership experience gained within a range of well-respected organisations.

Having qualified with Deloitte & Touche in 1994, he joined Price Waterhouse’s corporate finance group. Over the last 15 years, he has held a number of senior finance positions within IMI Precision, the largest division of IMI Plc, the FTSE-250 specialist engineering group.

During his time at IMI, he helped drive profitable growth as regional finance director for businesses in Europe, the US and Asia.

Most recently, he served in a global role as commercial finance director, supporting major new product launches, working on acquisitions and helping drive the organisation’s digital transformation. Prior to joining IMI, Bedford spent seven years with Jaguar Land Rover.

David Coghlan, chairman of Synectics, said: “I am delighted with David’s appointment as Synectics’ finance director. His skills and experience will strengthen Synectics’ senior leadership team and we look forward to working closely with him.”
