Construction firm acquires social housing developer

Sheffield-based Henry Boot Construction has completed the purchase of housing developer Starfish Commercial.

The announcement follows the construction business taking acquiring major shareholding in August. At this time Martin Gerrelli a director at Starfish Commercial said this was done to “bring the necessary support and working capital to allow us to deliver our current order book and future pipeline of opportunities.”

Starfish Commercial which has offices in Chesterfield and Ellesmere Port specialises in delivering new homes to the social housing market. It recently named on the Efficiency North social housing new-build framework that is to run until 2023, under the £100m project size lot.

Commenting on the acquisition, Henry Boot Construction stated it plans to continue growing Starfish’s future pipeline of opportunities in the social housing market for 2020 and beyond.

Following the acquisition Andy Lawson became managing director of the business having joined Henry Boot in June.
