Further expansion for independent logistics operator

Europa Road – the dedicated European road freight division of Sheffield-based logistics operator Europa Worldwide Group – has invested in the team which manages its full and large part loads and express van shipments.

It has created a brand new department for its non-network solution team of five at its Sheffield branch – which opened in September 2018 – focusing on business development and growth of import, export and cross-trade full and part loads in response to market demands.

Europa Worldwide Group has four divisions – Europa Road, Europa Air & Sea, Europa Showfreight and Europa Warehouse. Europa Road offers European road freight services for both import and export customers across Europe.

This new function will work alongside the existing team in Birmingham, which continues its focus on growth of dedicated express van work and management of full and part load key account business. The entire function in Sheffield and Birmingham is being led by Jason Reek who has been with Europa for four years.

Branch network and sales director at Europa Road, Dionne Redpath, said this change was vital to capitalise on the substantial opportunity this market has to offer.

She said: “We’ve invested enormously in our account manager team in recent years and those very talented people generate thousands of non-network opportunities every month.

“We know our customers really enjoy our Network Groupage services, high standards of performance, online IT, shipment tracking and being well cared for by their account manager.

“It stands to reason that those same customers want their European full and part load business to be managed in exactly the same way.

“Our customers understand their shipment might not be moved using Europa equipment but our robust management processes, IT and account management give confidence that, always, standards are maintained and requirements are met.”

Europa Road’s non-network solutions team is focused on providing timely, cost-effective solutions – focusing on the best availability, quality, price and service.

Reek said: “It’s my team’s mission to grow the number of European full and part load shipments, converting as many opportunities as possible and we are absolutely open for business.

“We know our customers are demanding and want a simple, slick, cost effective solution at the time they need it. Our job is to deliver that, using our experience of the European haulage market to provide a quick response, the best availability and a highly reliable solution that behaves in precisely the same way as our network groupage product.

“2020 is going to be a very exciting time for our team and I look forward to seeing our business development team flourish in their new home in Sheffield.”

Europa Worldwide Group employs more than 900 staff and reached a turnover of £180m last financial year, with further growth expected for 2020. In 2019 Europa announced the construction of a £60m, 715,000 sq ft logistics facility in the Midlands, which will be completed in June 2020.
