Buyer snaps up 18-bed nursing home

A North Yorkshire-based nursing home has been sold off.

Milton House Nursing Home, a care facility registered for 22, is in Gargrave, Skipton. Its sale was arranged by property advisor and care home specialist Christie & Co.

Milton House operates from a detached, two-storey property that has been converted and extended to provide accommodation and facilities for residents.

The property features gardens, a library, dining room, conservatory, and 18 en suite bedrooms.

It has been acquired by Lakhvendar Sohal, a businessman who plans to run the facility as part of the newly established, Milton House Nursing and Care Limited company.

Sohal said: “We are absolutely delighted with our purchase of Milton House. Our aim is to continue the high standard of care that is currently provided by the fantastic staff at Milton House with whom we will continue to serve Gargrave and the surrounding areas.”

Jonathan Wickens, director at Christie & Co, handled the sale. He said: “We are delighted to have worked with the previous owners, Winston and Carol Shutt and are pleased they can now enjoy their well-deserved retirement, having sold the home.

“We were pleased to introduce Amarjit and his partner to the home and feel confident they will continue the great traditions.

“Despite widely reported pressures within the social care sector, the sale of Milton House highlights the continued demand for quality care facilities across the Yorkshire region. It also suggests there is a future for long term care in well maintained and caring environments, such as Milton House.”
