International visitors to learn about region’s success in building an innovative economy

Leeds and the city region takes its place on the international stage this month, with visitors from across the world seeing first-hand how the region inspires fresh ways of doing business.

The visit is part of a prestigious programme, run by Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), which shares experiences of building one of the most dynamic innovation economies in the world.

Developing its own ambitious plans for the city and region, Leeds is hosting MIT’s international workshop, taking the opportunity to showcase its strengths to over a hundred global leaders.

The tours focus on: Creative cultures, fashion and arts; Financial technology; Future mobility; and Healthcare technologies

The Leeds team on the MIT programme includes leaders from the University of Leeds, Nexus, the Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and West Yorkshire Combined Authority.

There will also be leaders from Leeds City Council, KPMG, Arup, Leeds Academic Health Partnership, Monroe K and entrepreneurs Adam Beaumont and Ben Ziff, with the various organisations and individuals hosting the ‘innovation ecosystem’ tours.
