My Yorkshire: Michael Wynn, of Yorkshire Brickwork Contractors

Michael Wynn – is an experienced brickwork, stonework and blockwork contractor within the industrial, commercial and residential sectors. He is managing director of Yorkshire Brickwork Contractors and grew up in Harrogate, but now lives in Huddersfield.

Where do you live/where are you from?

I’m from Harrogate originally but moved to Huddersfield a while back.  I love the diversity in being a rural town that’s so close to busy cities like Leeds and Manchester.

What is your favourite place to visit in Yorkshire and why?

Leeds – we go there all the time whether it be to relax with a Sunday dinner or to socialise at a Jazz gig. There’s so much going on.

What is still on your “to do” list in the region?

I’d love to visit every place possible in Yorkshire – I think I’ve got most of them ticked off the list.

What is the most memorable meal you’ve ever had in Yorkshire?

An amazing curry from Sultans on Manningham Lane in Bradford. But if it’s dinner, then Gaucho Leeds is out of this world.

What is your most Yorkshire trait?

I would say it’s my friendly nature, including in the business world. I can start conversation with a stranger anywhere from on the plane to in the sauna.

Favourite piece of trivia about the region.

The long list of champion athletes born and bred in the region, including boxers Naseem Hamed and Johnny Nelson.

What is your favourite cultural icon to come out of Yorkshire?

The Yorkshire Pudding! The Sunday Roast just wouldn’t be the same without it.

Worst experience or thing about Yorkshire?

The M62 in rush hour traffic.

What is one thing you’d steal from Lancashire (or other UK regions) if you could?

Probably Manchester Airport for its great transport facilities and the ease of travelling to most places direct.

What is the most overrated thing about Yorkshire?

 …nothing.
