UK watchdog to investigate £50m acquisition

The acquisition of Findel Education Ltd by Yorkshire Purchasing Organisation in December is to be investigated by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA).

The purchase, which was led by Wakefield Council in its capacity as the lead authority of the joint committee valued Findel at £50m. It will now be judged as to whether its completion would cause a “substantial lessening of competition within any market or markets in the United Kingdom for goods or services”.
A deadline of April 14 has been set for parties to respond to the authority, but no details on an initial decision date have been made yet.
