Firm completes works on £2.5m school project

Ada Lovelace school, another of the company's major schemes

Engineering and services company NG Bailey has completed work on a school project for the Department for Education.

The Ilkley-headquartered business has been working alongside main contractor Wilmott Dixon Construction, on the creation of a new all-through primary and secondary school in Leeds – Dixon Trinity Academy.

The firm’s engineering division provided mechanical and electrical (M&E) works on the 40,000 sq m site, with works including drainage, heating and ventilation, as well as building management systems, electrical distribution and the installation of photovoltaic panels.

The school is split across two sites, which are connected by a bespoke 26m-long steel footbridge, which runs across a busy road enabling students to be dropped off and cross the road safely while minimising traffic impact.

With an overall project value of £21.6m, the academy will provide 1,000 school places for the local Chapeltown and Harehills communities and has been completed, ready for pupils and staff to return once COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.

Mike Darlington, managing director of Engineering at NG Bailey, said: “Our teams, both on and off site are continuing to work incredibly hard during this unprecedented time to ensure important infrastructure projects can continue safely.

“We are really pleased that work has been completed at Dixon Trinity Academy and hope staff and pupils are able to enjoy the use of their new facilities very soon.”
