Specialist wins contract to work on landmark city office scheme

A cast plastering business has secured a contract to work on the latest building at the major Wellington Place scheme, in Leeds.

Ryedale Interiors has been chosen by dry lining contractor, Sparta Systems, to design, manufacture and install 60 Glass Reinforced Gypsum (GRG) column casings within the eight-storey office block.

The £40,000 contract will see Ryedale Interiors replicate the GRG works they completed at Building 3 in October 2017.

The news comes as the firm celebrates its highest growth to date; reporting a 73% increase in annual turnover for 2019/20 to £1.5m, compared to £865,000 in financial year 2018/19.

When fully complete, the 22-acre Wellington Place scheme will comprise over 1.9 million sq ft of office, residential, retail and leisure space across eight buildings.

Building 4 is one of the latest buildings within the complex to be developed and will offer 156,000 sq ft of Grade A office, retail and leisure space.

The GRG circular column casings will be located on all the office floors, cloaking the structural steel columns.

Roger Hannon, managing director at Ryedale Interiors, said: “As a Leeds-based business, it’s an honour to be a part of such a stunning development that will help provide so many benefits to the residents of Leeds city centre and beyond.

“In 2017, we worked with Wates Construction on Building 3 at Wellington Place and also for Wates on the Central Square office development, so it’s a privilege to be a part of the latest contract work.”

Mathew Bates, commercial director at Sparta Systems, added: “It is always a pleasure working with Roger and the team at Ryedale Interiors. They take full control of the process, from design to the install, without any issues and always leave a snag free product.”
