Funding package powers biofuel company’s services for NHS

A biofuel supplier based in Barnsley has secured a six-figure funding package from HSBC UK to enable it to provide biofuel to an NHS hospital in England during the COVID-19 emergency.

The funding from HSBC UK will ensure the company can keep backup generators at hospitals fuelled with a sustainable alternative to diesel, avoiding any potential power and energy difficulties.

It will also support the company in paying all its staff involved in the production and delivery of fuel to an NHS hospital in England, which recently increased its capacity by 80 extra beds.

Without this package the NHS order would not have been able to be completed, due to the financial implications of the pandemic on the business.

Colin Campbell, managing director of BioFuels & Oils, said: “HSBC UK worked quickly to ensure additional funding was put in place, so we can continue to supply fuel to the NHS hospitals throughout the Coronavirus crisis.

“We are now in a position to be able to pay our dedicated staff and ensure that the hospital can focus on helping patients.”

Vivek Joshi, relationship manager for HSBC UK, added: “The dedication of the NHS staff throughout this difficult period has been phenomenal, so when the opportunity came to show a sign of support to a company directly supporting the NHS, we were happy to help.

“BioFuels & Oils provide an essential product to hospitals around the UK and we hope that it will continue to do so for many more years.”
