Plans submitted for 600,000 sq ft of logistics space

Developer PLP has submitted a reserved matters planning application for approximately 600,000 sq ft of logistics units.

It is for the next phase of development at PLP Bessemer Park, in Sheffield.

The submission will enable PLP to deliver four distribution units with sizes ranging from 84,000 sq ft to 293,000 sq ft on a speculative and pre-let basis. Units can be delivered ready for occupation in quarter three 2021.

The latest stage of the development follows the first phase, which was 100% pre-let before practical completion in quarter four 2019.

PLP Bessemer Park is adjacent to J34 of the M1 motorway, immediately south of Meadowhall Shopping Centre.

Hugh Chesterton, development director at PLP, said: “PLP Bessemer Park is a prime example of the company’s ambition to create nationally significant logistics parks.

“Following the success of pre-letting the entire first phase before practical completion, PLP looks forward to working with Sheffield City Council to deliver further investment and job creation through the development of phase two.”

Rebecca Schofield, Partner at Knight Frank, added: “It is great to see PLP’s continued confidence in the market.

“The planning application follows the success of phase one which saw both units let prior to completion.

“The next phase has been designed to provide high quality units which will appeal to both the local and regional market as well as national motorway corridor requirements. We look forward to working on the next phase.”
