Former council boss becomes National Lottery Chair

The former chief executive of Sheffield City Council has become the England chair of the National Lottery Community Fund for four years.

John Mothersole has been appointed by the Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, Oliver Dowden CBE, to the role having stood down from Sheffield council in December after 11 years.

Since then he has taken on a series of non-executive roles which now include chair-designate of The Sheffield College, trustee of a community care charity, membership of the Advisory Board of the Sheffield University Management School and chair of Meadowhall Education Centre.

Prior to being selected as chair of the National Lottery Community Fund, John was a member of its committee.
