Three businesses make list of UK’s top private companies

In the latest league table of Britain’s top 100 private companies with the biggest sales, due to be published this weekend, the Yorkshire region is represented by three businesses.

The 19th annual Sunday Times HSBC Top Track 100 league table, once again includes JCT600, Yorkshire Water and Stoneacre Motor Group, who collectively achieved sales of £3.3bn and profits of £628m in their last financial year.

Of the the three firms, JCT 600 came out highest in the league table taking (52nd), however this years results saw all three Yorkshire firms drop positions with Yorkshire Water in at 65 and Stoneacre in at 75.

The Yorkshire businesses were in distinguished company, joined in this year’s list by bet365, Dyson, Iceland, JCB, John Lewis Partnership, Nando’s and Specsavers.

Outside of Yorkshire the national picture highlighted the strength of the capital, with a third of the list based in London, while the North West also surpasses Yorkshire with 13 businesses making the list.

The league table programme is sponsored by HSBC and Linklaters, and compiled by Fast Track, the Oxford-based research and networking events firm.
