Region awarded £13.4m for ‘shovel ready’ infrastructure projects

The Humber Local Enterprise Partnership is set to receive up to £13.4m in funding to support infrastructure projects in its region.

This funding, part of the Government’s ‘New Deal’ to help deliver jobs, skills and infrastructure for Britain, was confirmed by Regional Growth and Local Government Minister Simon Clarke MP in a letter to the LEP.

The Humber LEP previously submitted its “shovel ready” projects to Government, which are schemes that can start soon and be completed within the next 18 months. The final list of successful projects will be announced next week.

The allocations are based on LEP population size and COVID-19 exposure and resilience, and form part of the Government’s £900m ‘Getting Building Fund’ investing in local infrastructure projects to drive economic growth.

Stephen Parnaby, chairman of the Humber LEP, said: “We welcome this investment from the Government. We know infrastructure projects are key in driving growth forward in the Humber and are especially welcome as we mitigate the economic impacts of COVD-19.

“The Humber LEP has an excellent track record for delivering such projects and we will confirm the successful projects following our Board meeting on 17 July.”
