People: Berwins and idhl

Yorkshire law firm, Berwins, has boosted its Family Law credentials with the appointment of a collaborative law specialist.

William Kaye brings over 20 years’ specialist family law experience to the team.

Formerly head of the family law team at a well-known regional firm, Kaye has spent much of his career in York. Here he has built an enviable reputation among both clients and professional contacts for offering valuable, proactive advice and achieving fair and efficient outcomes.

He said: “I’m delighted to have joined the team. Berwins is well known for offering exceptional levels of client care and for getting the best outcomes through its commitment to Alternative Dispute Resolution processes, including collaborative family law.

“I have long been a passionate advocate for this approach, and it is fantastic to be working with a talented team of experienced professionals who share that belief.”

The appointment forms part of the firm’s ongoing growth plans. Berwins’ head of Family Law, Danielle Day, explained: “Berwins was an early adopter of collaborative practice and has seen this area of law grow exponentially over the last decade.

“That increase in popularity is largely down to the way it helps clients retain control of a difficult situation and unlock a brighter future for themselves and their families.

“With his wealth of professional experience, William is a huge asset to the team as we seek to maintain and further develop that approach, and his appointment is a significant coup for the firm.”

Connected agency group, idhl, has welcomed Mike Sprot as chief financial officer, as Lisa Higham steps into the new director role of chief operating officer.

The company has offices in Leeds and Wetherby, as well as bases in Burnley, Manchester and London.

The firm explains its rate of growth, following new business acquisitions, an increasing product and service portfolio, and the expansion of its Finance and Group Operations teams, required the creation of a new director-level post.

Former Group finance director, Higham, will leverage her extensive knowledge of the business in the role of chief operating officer, providing dedicated support to the development of key operational departments.

Taking over responsibility as chief financial officer, Sprot joins idhl from Jaywing, where, since 2015, he also held the position of chief financial officer.

He brings with him a depth of relevant experience held by few, with many years in a PLC background alongside sector-specific and international experience.

Dennis Engel, chief executive, idhl, said: “These appointments represent a strategic milestone in the evolution of the Group, reflecting our significant growth over recent years, which is continuing despite current market conditions.

“Mike’s background and external experience combined with Lisa’s encyclopaedic knowledge of the Group will prove a powerful combination as we embark on the next phase at idhl.”

Sprot said: “It’s a hugely exciting time to be joining idhl. I look forward to being part of the Group’s ambitious growth strategy and supporting the achievement of this through a unique depth of industry understanding alongside fund raising and acquisition expertise.”
