Developer wins permission for new family homes in village

Oakapple Group, a Leeds-based developer, has received planning permission to develop 15 new homes in Rainton, North Yorkshire.

Work is due to start this month, with 15 properties to be built in the village which is five miles from Ripon.

All homes will be designed to meet an increased demand for rural living and home working, which has become popular for many people following the Covid-19 pandemic.

The four and five-bedroom detached houses will offer full ‘home office’ packages and super-fast broadband.

Sean Mayes, property & development director at Oakapple Group, said: “We have all adapted to a new way of working during the pandemic.

“Oakapple recognised the need to design houses to accommodate people continuing this balance of limiting their commutes to the office and working more from home.

“Property professionals are predicting significant growth in demand for rural living, with demand likely to outstrip supply.

“Through careful design and choice of excellent locations, we believe our houses will be future proofed for the ‘new normal’ whilst offering a great lifestyle choice.”
