Weekender: Musician launches drive-in venture to provide entertainment

An entrepreneur from Leeds has launched his latest venture – Drive-In Experiences in a bid to provide much needed outdoor entertainment events for customers to enjoy from the security of their own car.

The team will host a number of socially distanced, ‘drive-in’ outdoor experiences including concerts, movies nights, theatre shows and comedy evenings.

The first event is set to motor ahead this August bank holiday weekend in Wakefield and will provide music lovers the chance to watch a whole host of live entertainment including popular Billy Idol, Bryan Adams, Bruce Springsteen, and Blondie tribute acts across five nights.

While the evening of the 30th of August has been set aside as a free concert for NHS staff in a show of appreciation, tickets for the other showings – including three matinee performances for all of the family to enjoy – are now on sale.

Guests will be stewarded as they drive into their allocated area which is where they will be able will be able to rock out and dance to the music.

The Drive-In Experience team say the goal is to offer an exciting and Covid-19 safe environment, while helping maintain a healthy and vibrant entertainment industry within the UK for many years to come.

The team are also set to reveal details of a series of family friendly cinema and concert events at Leeds East Airport taking place between 9 and 27 September.

Enzo Tantram, a Bryan Adams and Bruce Springsteen tribute act, and founder of Drive-In Experiences, said: “As the Covid-19 virus effectively ended the Live indoor gigging and cinematic circuit From March 2020 there became an obvious demand for escapism, as people yearned for a return to some kind of normality, a much needed adrenaline rush and the need to be around other like-minded people.

“The idea became compelling – to provide an escape from the lockdown restrictions, while getting back to a live entertainment in a safe and friendly environment.

“But how to do this was the six million dollar question and that’s where the inspiration came from – America and its passion for Drive in Events.

“With many years in music, a large contact base and a wealth of experience in Business we were able to move extremely quickly to establish our vision for the future of live and cinematic entertainment.

“Now the Wakefield event is ready to go we’re in the process of rolling out the format across the country and offering a range of entertainment to give people what they want.”

The Rock and Pop Icons on Tour event will run for five nights between the 27 to 31 August at Beacon Hill Farm, just off J38 of the M1.
