The role of regional collaboration

Over recent years the economies of the North have enjoyed renewed momentum and focus. But as we enter a new world where a global pandemic has created many new challenges for businesses and we prepare for the end of the UK and Europe’s transition period, what’s next?

In the latest event as part of Squire Patton Boggs and TheBusinessDesk.com’s PACE of the North project, an expert panel will explore what further policy devolution and regional collaboration is needed to drive the productivity of the Northern Powerhouse.

The panel session, chaired by the Rt Hon Jake Berry MP, will also look at what additional support is needed to enable the businesses of the North to connect with international markets and compete on a global scale.

The panel includes:

  • Rt. Hon. Simon Clarke MP, Minister for Regional Growth
  • Ben Houchen, Tees Valley Mayor
  • Nicola Headlam, Independent Policy Consultant
  • Susana Cordoba, Director of International Trade, Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce
  • Diarmuid Ryan, Partner, Squire Patton Boggs

Other topics to be covered will include how the region can work with the Department for International Trade, and the opportunities and challenges free ports can bring.
