Graphic design, branding and animation business launched

A West Yorkshire-based entrepreneur has set up a business to support companies with graphic design, branding, and animation, following redundancy

Dan Jowett, an experienced graphic designer with 16 years’ industry experience, has launched Pixel Lab following to offer a full suite of graphic design services for businesses, and has already secured contracts with a number of start-ups and SMEs.

Jowett plans to extend his experience in the food and drink industry where he has previously worked on brands including the Co-op’s food packaging, Saltaire Brewery and Nestle.

He said: “I’m sure there are people who think I’m crazy for launching a business in the middle of a pandemic but for me it was the right time.

“My dad was an entrepreneur and there was always a part of me which wanted to work for myself but the safety of a regular payslip from employment kept me in a safe position. When that changed, I realised it was now or never.

With his employer struggling when the UK was put into lockdown, Jowett was put on furlough in April.

Keen to keep himself busy, he launched a t-shirt design business, Pixel Tees, uploading his designs to third party sites, Teespring and Redbubble.

He continued: “Developing and marketing my own t-shirt designs through social media gave me a real taster for taking charge of my own destiny. The feeling of a stranger buying my design to wear was fantastic.

“I’m continuing to develop further t-shirt designs and create drawings whilst building up Pixel Lab’s customers to support businesses with stand-out graphic design.

“It has never been more important to do something you love and for businesses to standout and showcase what they do and what they stand for; this is something I’m excited to help people bring to life.”
