British Stainless Steel Association (BSSA) has reaffirmed its commitment to the Steel city by relocating its HQ to UKSE’s Innovation Centre in Sheffield city centre.

The BSSA states the site was chosen because because it is “ideally situated” for the organisation’s “evolving needs”, replacing its current premises outside of the city centre which were considered “no longer suitable to the team’s changing needs and demand for flexibility”.

The city centre site which is a short walk from Sheffield train station features and seminar rooms that will be used by the association to host membership meetings, as well as education and training sessions.

The BSSA, which works to promote and develop the use of stainless steel across the UK and Ireland, was previously located at Blades Enterprise Centre, which was located Bramall Lane, the home of Sheffield United.

Rob Cooper, managing director of BSSA said, “This is an exciting time for us at BSSA and the take up of our new headquarters reflects our desire to be flexible and adaptive in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

“We think it’s really important to have a base for our staff and members to be able to visit and use when needed as well as having the flexibility to be able to work from home when more appropriate.

“The team at UKSE have been incredibly flexible in providing us with an opportunity which suited our needs. We can now focus the next 12 months in strengthening our service offering to our members.”

Alan Stanley, regional executive at UKSE added, “As Sheffield is renowned for its engineering and manufacturing excellence its fantastic to see BSSA commit to the Innovation Centre and add to the overall strong community we have at the site.

“Like many others, we’ve taken appropriate steps to reduce the risk of virus transmission, whilst allowing tenants and their staff to continue to access the centre on a 24/7 basis.”
