Office expansion for commercial law practice

Commercial law firm Hill Dickinson has expanded its Leeds-based practice and relocated to larger and more prestigious premises at Nine Bond Court in the city.

The move comes only three years after the firm first opened its northernmost UK practice in the city, having outgrown its Princes Exchange offices much faster than anticipated.

The firm, which prior to opening in Leeds in August 2017 had serviced a large and varied healthcare, business services and marine client base from offices in Liverpool, Manchester and London, opened its Leeds practice to spearhead commercial health work in Yorkshire and the North East.

Since then, the team’s commercial, employment, real estate, advisory and litigation practice has grown at such a rate that it now comprises 16 specialist health lawyers and works with a broad range of NHS, independent sector and life sciences clients.

As the Leeds health practice continues to grow, the firm intends to expand its Leeds offering to encompass the full range of legal business services, as in its Liverpool, London and Manchester offices.

Esther Venning, newly-promoted partner in the team, has been appointed head of office for Leeds to coincide with the move.

She said: “I am delighted that our commitment to Leeds and to our client base in the Yorkshire and North East region, as well as nationally, has proved such a positive move for our health practice and the firm overall.

“This move is a credit to the whole team, and is a clear sign of our confidence in the city and our commitment to sustained growth.

“Although we moved seamlessly to agile working during lockdown, we are very much looking forward to working together from our new base as we begin to return to the office and, in time, being able to meet with our clients face to face again.”

Peter Jackson

Hill Dickinson chief executive, Peter Jackson, confirmed the move met a number of the firm’s strategic objectives.

He said: “Having established ourselves in the Leeds market with our health offering in 2017, we have grown at a rate that has exceeded all our expectations.

“The move to new and larger premises in the city now sets the stage for Hill Dickinson to establish a full service offering in Leeds over the coming years.

“Our enhanced offer for our clients in and around Leeds will include the full range of business-related services.

“And we plan to bolster our life sciences practice to complement our current London-based team, reflecting the many healthtech innovators that have chosen to base themselves in Leeds and the North.”
