18-storey student tower block plan for city centre

Plans have been submitted to Sheffield City Council for a major new student apartment development close to the city centre.

A team at Sheffield’s CODA Architecture have designed the 18-storey block on the site of the current Ant Marketing building in the St Mary’s Gate area.

The development will feature 113 student apartments totalling 286 beds, comprised of clusters and studio units above recreation spaces, a secure cycle area, plant rooms and refuse facilities.

It has been created on behalf of Leeds-based developer the KMRE Group.

A spokesman for CODA said: “The development will see a continuation of the high density development of the St Mary’s Gate area and is seen as a sign of continued confidence in the strength of the Sheffield student market.”
