Post-lockdown trade boost for house builder

North Yorkshire-based property developer Newby says it is celebrating its most successful quarter of 2020, following the reopening of the property market in May.

In its latest update, the company says there has been a surge of interest in its Newby’s Glasshouses Mill and West House Gardens developments in particular.

Eight properties have sold in recent weeks at Glasshouses Mill, the redevelopment of the historic Nidderdale mill set alongside the River Nidd, some using the Help to Buy scheme that is available across the development.

A further six properties have sold at West House Gardens in the village of Birstwith, near Harrogate.

At Glasshouses Mill 14 properties remain available, including houses, cottages and apartments. Five family homes are still available at West House Gardens.

Francesca Kaye, of Newby, said: “We’ve been delighted with how busy Newby has been over the last three to four months.

“The demand built up during lockdown, combined with the stamp duty holiday, has obviously given people a real incentive to think seriously about their next move.

“The Help to Buy scheme which is available across the majority of our developments has also proven to be extremely popular and is a great way to enable first time buyers to get a step onto the property ladder.

“All of our current developments have seen a surge in interest but it’s been particularly noticeable at Glasshouses and West House Gardens.”

Newby is also currently working on developments in Harrogate and York
