Sport and leisure facilities to be improved and extended
Work to extend East Riding Leisure Haltemprice has started on site.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council is working with local contractor, Hobson & Porter Ltd.
The work comprises a new extension to the south of the existing building, adjacent to Springfield Way, as well as external improvements.
It will provide an extended Tone Zone, a new purpose-built group exercise space, additional consultation rooms, new toilet facilities, and car park remodelling, which will create 21 additional spaces.
The works have been designed and managed by the council’s in-house Building Design Group and procured via the YORhub suite of construction frameworks.
The programme of works involves the integration of the new extension with the existing building, and is anticipated to be completed in summer 2021.
Councillor Shaun Horton, portfolio holder for coastal regeneration and tourism, including culture and leisure, said: “East Riding Leisure Haltemprice is a hugely popular facility, and I am delighted that work is now under way with Hobson & Porter to extend and improve the centre still further.
“I look forward to the completion of this major project next year and the improvements it will bring for our customers and residents.”
