Civil engineering firm invests £700,000 in new offices

An East Yorkshire civil engineering company is to become the latest big name to move to Green Park Business Park in Newport.

Kitchen Civils is investing more than £700,000 in building a 10,763 sq ft, two-floor office development and vehicle maintenance compound at this location.

Relocating to Green Park will enable Kitchen Civils to streamline its operations, as well as preparing the business for future expansion after outgrowing its current base at Jet Park, also in Newport.

The 28-week construction programme began in May and will see the business to relocate to the new development towards the end of the year, enabling it to start 2021 in its new home.

Founder and managing director, Jimmy Kitchen, said he chose the location as it provided extensive access to the wider region, the opportunity for further growth, and an exceptional space to create a development tailored to the business’s needs.

He added: “The business was established in 2012 on the basis that we self-deliver every aspect of each scheme.

“As a result of this, we have a large fleet of plant that requires maintenance and a need for material storage.

“Our on-going development and success has meant we have outgrown our current premises and have spread this into other locations.

“For this reason, we decided two years ago to relocate, and despite the ongoing difficulties of 2020, we have pushed on.’’

Kitchen Civils specialises in major civil engineering projects, highway and infrastructure works, earthworks and groundworks for large commercial and residential schemes.

The company – a self-delivering contractor able manage all aspects of major civil engineering projects – has seen significant growth over recent years working with large residential and commercial developers, local authorities, government departments and blue-chip clients.

Green Park Business Park has been developed by East Yorkshire commercial property business, Horncastle Group PLC.

Kitchen Civils will join a number of big-name businesses already on site including the Horncastle Group, Everard Garage Equipment, Proqual, Swift Property, Lovel Developments, Enable Futures, Boiler Plan UK, Kingston Capital Finance and leading communications agency, tprc.

Ian Hodges, managing director of the Horncastle Group, said: “Green Park Business Park is part of a growing employment hub at junction 38 of the M62 and combines a fantastic location with great access, and with the space and flexibility to create a bespoke design and build facility for a growing business.

“We’re delighted Kitchen Civils has chosen Green Park for their exciting expansion plans and we look forward to welcoming them on site later this year.”
