£60m turnover flooring business rolls out latest expansion

One of the UK’s largest distributors of floorcoverings and matting products has opened a distribution centre in Yorkshire, after expanding into premises at Leeds 27 Industrial Estate.

Likewise plc has signed a 10-year lease on more than 80,000 sq ft of space at Leeds 27 Industrial Estate, less than a mile from Junction 27 of the M62 and M621.

Leeds property consultancy, Gent Visick, marketed the site on behalf of an institutional client.

The newly refurbished property offers more than 74,000 sq ft of warehouse space and 6,000 sq ft of office space spread over two floors. There is also a large secure yard benefitting from 17 loading doors.

Likewise has built up its Yorkshire distribution centre from a smaller site at Dewsbury.

It marks the latest significant development for the company, which has grown rapidly since its formation in 2018, after making a series a multi-million pound acquisitions as well as establishing new businesses.

The company’s annual sales revenue, generated by a sales team of 61 people, is now more than £60m, and it also has distribution centres in Manchester and Sudbury, with service centres in Glasgow, Newcastle, Daventry and Peckham.

Tony Brewer, CEO at Likewise, said: “Likewise is now one of the key players in the UK flooring market and this latest expansion gives us a high quality distribution centre, in a strategic location, within two hours of a large proportion of our customer base in the North of England.

“Ultimately it will make us even more efficient and further improve the standard of service that our customers enjoy.”

Daniel Walker, from Gent Visick, said: “This unit has been refurbished to an exceptional standard and offers high quality logistics space adjacent to the national motorway network.

“As a result, we were able to generate a significant amount of interest in it, from both national and regional companies, and to agree a deal with a high growth plc such as Likewise, is a fantastic outcome for our client.”
