Funding hole in one for professional golf travel specialist

Fairway International Travel (FIT), an independent travel management company, has been backed by alternative finance provider ThinCats with £1.5m in working capital.

Founded in 1991, Halifax-based FIT specialises in providing travel for the professional golfers on the PGA European Tour, European Senior Tour and European Challenge Tour.

The company is the largest professional golf travel specialist in the UK.

Its management team wanted to pursue development opportunities to maximise their offering for the golf community for the 2021 season.

ThinCats was introduced by Phil Tarimo at Dow Schofield Watts to provide the funding package needed.

Bill Tannahill, CEO at FIT, said: “We are really keen to get back to normal with providing our specialist sport travel services – 2021 will be all the more exciting and offers us the opportunity to support our clients even more closely, as we work together with our partners to move on from the challenges of 2020.

“ThinCats took the time to properly understand our offering and plans for the future, and we are looking forward to putting the funding to good use.”

David Parr, director, regional business development at ThinCats, said: “FIT is a great example of the mid-sized SMEs that ThinCats specialises in funding.

“They provide a well-respected service to the pro-golfing sector, and it has been a pleasure to work with their knowledgeable and experienced team. We wish them all the best with the 2021 season.”
