Yorkshire build to rent developer in technology partnership

Build to rent developer, Moda Living, the UK’s fastest growing housing brand focused on the design, delivery and custodianship of next generation neighbourhoods has formed a technology partnership for its UK wide £2.5bn residential portfolio with Samsung, the world’s largest technology company by size and global leader in the domestic appliance industry.

The partnership will see Harrogate-based Moda and Samsung working together to build entire neighbourhoods equipped for the future, underpinned by innovation. Alongside this the deal will see the developer benefit from bespoke product offerings to suit it’s residents needs.

Samsung’s appliances are currently present in every apartment and communal space in Moda’s Angel Gardens neighbourhood, its flagship development, with a 50 inch Samsung 4K smart TV alongside white goods including Samsung built-in fridge freezers, dishwashers, induction hobs and microwaves all included within the rent.

Oscar Brooks, director at Moda Living said: “Moda’s core focus is to create stylish, high-quality, sustainable neighbourhoods for residents to live, work and play, but we also recognise the importance of investing in state-of-the-art technology to enhance connectivity, simplicity and efficiency in residents’ day to day lives. Championing innovation and beautiful design, Samsung presented a natural partner to supply appliances in-keeping with our future-thinking values and aesthetics.

“Our number one priority is for technology to help Moda’s residents to feel happy and safe in their home, whilst making their lives that bit easier. The proposition of the Smart home is important for our future residents and will help distinguish our brand from the competition. Samsung is setting new standards for connected living and we are looking forward to driving our partnership forward.”

Murtaza Bukhari, GM, strategic partnerships at Samsung UK & Ireland commented: “Moda’s focus on ‘future planning’ for the positive physical and mental health of their residents before the pandemic even unfolded was so refreshing. The fact that their focus is on the wellbeing of the community really resonated with Samsung’s vision. Moda recognises that people buy Smart products not because they are ‘Smart’, but because the added features bring them the benefits they value. They understand that their residents want to feel safe, secure, save time and money, but remain connected to families and friends.

Ralf Elias, VP, global IOT business development & partnerships at Samsung Electronics added: “At Samsung, we are committed to continuously innovating with our products and services to allow our customers to build their perfect Smart home to enhance wellbeing. It’s our aim to change the way people live and give purpose to connected living. Collaborating with Moda provides us with a scale portfolio to see where we, and our product range can add the most value.”

Following the partnership agreement at Samsung HQ in South Korea, there is now a pipeline wide supplier agreement in place for more than 60,000 appliances spanning Moda’s neighbourhoods across the living sector.
