Crisis fails to halt expansion at health and safety business

Dave Rose

Goole-based health and safety specialist MNA Group has consolidated a period of sustained growth and expansion, despite 2020’s exceptional challenges.

As well as opening a second office on Challenge Way in Bradford, the MNA team has welcomed four new employees, including sales director Richard Bloodworth.

Bloodworth has brought with him a wealth of experience in the roofing and cladding sector, which means MNA Group can now offer roof safety systems, roof access ladders and industrial roofing services.

These developments have further bolstered the building and construction arm of the business, which has grown significantly in recent years.

The company works with a variety of well-known clients across a broad range of sectors.

Recent high-profile contract wins include securing work with a facilities management company that has seen MNA Group take responsibility for maintaining the roofs of 20 schools across Greater Manchester.

While the company currently has teams working on projects nationwide, it chose Bradford as the location for its second office because so many of its customers are located along the M62 corridor.

Launched in 2005, the business has evolved as its founders Mark Newman and Dave Rose identified new customer bases. Today the business offers working at height solutions, building and construction, and health and safety services and training courses.

Rose said: “2020 has been a difficult year for so many businesses and, like most people, we really didn’t know how we’d be affected by a pandemic.

“However, looking back, we launched the business three years before the recession of 2008 and somehow managed to keep it growing.

“I think the fact that we’ve managed to replicate that during this current period of economic uncertainty is down to our ability to identify new opportunities to develop the services that we offer and because we pride ourselves on the amount of repeat business we get from our customers.”

Mark Newman

Newman added: “We were delighted to welcome Richard to the team because he has years of experience as a national sales manager in the roofing and cladding sector behind him, which gives us even greater expertise in that area.

“We work with customers across an ever-growing range of sectors and have recently added the education sector to our portfolio through our work in Greater Manchester.

“Much of the company’s growth has taken place in the last seven years since we moved to our current headquarters in Goole.

“Today, the various strands of the business allow plenty of opportunities to cross-sell our services to existing customers, as well as targeting new business.”
