Car rental business to set up new branch on vacant land

Enterprise Rent-A-Car will open a new flagship branch in Sheepscar, Leeds which will be the company’s largest UK rental location.

The site, which was previously a vacant trade unit, is being invested in by Enterprise as a part of plans to regenerate the local area.

The new branch will create 12 jobs – including two management trainee positions.

Due to open in summer 2021, the branch will offer cars and vans, which can be hired by the day or longer. There will also be provision for Enterprise Car Club vehicles and electric vehicle charging points.

The site, spanning 42,688 sq ft, will be Enterprise’s largest branch in the UK and enables the company to relocate from a smaller neighbouring site and increase the range and number of vehicles it can offer.

It will feature an automated on-site car wash using the latest water recycling technology.

Enterprise says it is also investing to reduce flooding risk with a new water attenuation system. The technology will protect the site from flash flooding by storing and slowly releasing surface water run-off.

The method slows down the rate at which surface water enters sewers or water courses and reduces the risk of flooding downstream.

Peter Cummins, group facilities and construction manager at Enterprise, said: “We are excited to announce our new flagship branch in Leeds.

“The first of its kind, the branch will be a key location for vehicle rental in the region, creating new job opportunities.

“We are delighted to be investing into the local area and continuing to play a part in the regeneration of the region.

“We are looking forward to welcoming customers and businesses when we open in summer next year.”

Sewell Construction has been appointed to build the three-storey facility on behalf of Enterprise Rent-A-Car.

Chris James, project manager at Sewell Construction, said: “We are delighted to be back in Leeds, working on behalf of Enterprise to develop their flagship branch.

“Despite the challenges of this year, we have started work on site as planned, and passers-by will see that the steel frame is currently being erected.#

“This facility is going to be a great asset to the city when it opens its doors in 2021.”

The new branch will be located at 1 Benson Street and adds to Enterprise’s network of branches in Leeds and the surrounding area.
