Specialist accountancy firm on move

A LEEDS accountancy firm has moved to larger premises as it continues to expand in the region.

Year End Accounting, which has clients in the hospitality, entertainment and retail industries, has moved  from The Calls into a former bar owned by Rio Ferdinand on Wharfe Street.

Established three years ago the firm has carved a niche in the hospitality sector where it represents bars, clubs, restaurants and catering companies.

Ian Bavill, managing director of Year End Accounting, said: “We started out as a niche firm working with Leeds-based licensed trade businesses but we have expanded, predominantly through word-of-mouth recommendation, to widen our client base both from a geographical and sector point of view.

“Having outgrown our previous premises we have now tripled our office size which will allow us to fulfil our expansion plans over the next three years. Part of that strategy involves the launch of our apprenticeship scheme for 2010 which will initially see us take on two more staff in the first six months of the New Year.”

As well as relocating the company is launching an apprenticeship scheme next month which will initially take on two trainee accountants.

The firm hopes the scheme will offer young professionals an alternative route into accountancy from the traditional university path and mirrors how its managing director became a qualified accountant.

Mr Bavill said: “I didn’t follow what is perceived to be the traditional route into this profession so I am keen to offer the opportunity I was given ten years ago to today’s young professionals.”
