Law firm, Walker Morris, has made a major lateral hire with the appointment of Lucy Gordon as a director to its Employment Team.

The announcement follows a series of senior appointments to the team in recent years, now comprising two partners and 13 fee earners.

Gordon joins from ESP Law where she practiced as a senior solicitor.

Prior to this she was a senior associate and solicitor at DLA Piper for ten years and has worked on a number of high-profile and complex cases.

She brings a wealth of knowledge to Walker Morris, having advised clients on employment law for 15 years.

Gordon has particular expertise in advising on group restructures, TUPE and multi-jurisdictional redundancy programmes and has significant experience in advising healthcare and financial services clients.

Notably, she successfully defended a high-profile financial services client through the implications of whistle-blowing claims and alleged failures to inform and consult over TUPE.

David Smedley, head of employment and chairman of partners at Walker Morris, said: “Lucy’s appointment reinforces the strength of our ever-growing Employment Team and her skills and values are a perfect fit for the firm. We’ve seen a year of unprecedented changes to employment law while helping our clients navigate it successfully. The issues encountered this year won’t go away as we move into 2021 and, with Lucy’s appointment, we are well positioned to advise our clients on all aspects across jurisdictions and industry.”

Gordon added: “I’m thrilled to be joining Walker Morris at what is a busy and exciting time for the Employment Team.

“Having worked at a global law firm and a smaller boutique firm, I’m looking forward to using my experience when working with Walker Morris’ impressive roster of national and international clients.

“Walker Morris is well positioned with the advantage of being able to create close client and employee relationships whilst offering the full spectrum of legal services – from a unique one-site location with a close-knit team – and I’m proud to be part of that distinctive proposition.”

Direct Mail company, Flow Group, has appointed two new members of staff to coincide with its growth plans for 2021.

The firm, which merged with Mr Flyer last month, has already seen an uptake in sales due to the combined print services that each of the companies deliver.

Based at its head office in Brighouse, the business is set to continue its expansion plans with a number of new service rollouts for 2021.

Hannah Severin-Lelitte joins the sales team as sales consultant to assist with the day-to-day running of the sales department.

She said: “The firm has a really strong ethos with the way they communicate with their customers, it’s more about educating customers rather than selling, which appeals to me.

“I have really enjoyed learning about the wide range of businesses and talking to a huge variety of people.”

Allan Jenson has been brought in to manage the operations in the warehouse team where he will continue to maintain quality control and streamlining processes.

He added: “When applying for the role I noticed that the company seemed like it was going places and wanted to be part of it.”

Head of sales & marketing at Flow Group, Andrew Robinson, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Hannah and Allan on board. Both will provide invaluable skills needed to help achieve our growth plans.”
