Building consultancy doubles in size following acquisition

Yorkshire-based building regulations consultancy and approved inspector, YDBC, has recorded a solid year of growth following its acquisition 12 months ago by Leeds-based counterpart, C80 Group.

Since joining C80 Group at the end of 2019, YDBC has doubled in size, with the recruitment of four new staff and the opening of a new office in Horsforth in addition to its original office in Leyburn.

Providing Building Control duties for domestic and commercial construction projects throughout Yorkshire and the North East, YDBC operates alongside C80 Group’s other multi-disciplinary building consultancies, Leeds-based C80 Solutions and Birmingham-based Stewart Associates.

Katherine Naisbitt, director at YDBC, said: “Last year was an enormous challenge for businesses and organisations across the world and YDBC is no exception, but we have been able to sustain significant growth and put ourselves on a strong footing for 2021.

“Much of that success has resulted from an increase in demand for building control services from homeowners that have decided to invest in upgrades to their properties, often using savings accumulated during the lockdowns and travel restrictions imposed amid Covid.”

YDBC marked another key achievement in 2020 when it retained its status as an approved inspector, following an audit by the Construction Industry Council Approved Inspectors Register.

It also renewed its Approved Inspector Professional Indemnity Insurance via a Government-approved scheme.

This allows YDBC to continue providing Building Control services as an alternative to Local Authority Building Control, upholding compliance across both residential and commercial projects.
